KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The holiday giving season has come and gone and many food banks are dealing with a drop in donations.
Second Harvest food bank needs your help to feed the hungry in the Columbia Basin.
Papa John's pizza is teaming up with Second Harvest to kick off a great food drive Saturday that will benefit people in our community struggling with hunger.
In the Columbia Basin, one in seven people are hungry or at risk of hunger.
Saturday from 10am to 4pm, Second Harvest will be accepting bags of non-perishable foods outside the U-Rock Radio station at 2617 W. Falls Avenue Kennewick.
"Hunger is year round. It's not just during the holidays. So it's really, really nice to have food drives like this throughout the year to be able to support those in need," said Cassie Hurley, Second Harvest spokesperson.
The first 500 people to donate a bag of food will get a certificate for a free Papa John's pizza. They will also have raffle tickets to win free pizzas for a year.
Second Harvest partners with 250 neighborhood food banks to feed the hungry.
