KENNEWICK, Wash. -The Red Cross of the Tri-Cities hopes to teach pet owners a new trick of coming out and giving blood.

The mobile blood donor van will be parked outside PetSmart on Canal Drive in Kennewick between noon and 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Store manager Patrick McKennon says he's shooting to break last year's donation totals.

"Our goal was 54 units and we hit 62, so we did very well supporting the local red cross and doing something a little different in the community."
