Energy Northwest produces record electricity in 2012
RICHLAND, Wash. - The operator at Energy Northwest says the plant produced a record amount of electricity in 2012 for its 28-year history.
Energy Northwest says the plant generated 9.34 million megawatts for the regional grid while it ran continuously, except for 10 days of maintenance in May. The nuclear plant accounts for nearly 10 percent of the electricity generated in Washington state.
Energy Northwest says the Columbia Generating Station has remained online for more than three years without any unplanned outage.
