Wapato Students Get a Lesson in Staying Healthy

WAPATO, Wash.-- Students at Wapato Middle School get a lesson in staying healthy. The school held its 5th Annual Health Fair Thursday.

Organizers say there were 20 to 30 different booths, ranging from mental health services, to police and fire, all there to help teach students how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Organizers say students learn a lot, and are able to take what they've learned back home to share it with family.

"This is the age group where they start to come up with their own ideas about how they want to live their lives and we want them to start taking ownership of how to be healthy," said Counselor Nancy Dabney.

Dabney says students don't have a physical education class year round, so learning more about staying healthy, is a big benefit.
