Improved Handicap Access at Franklin County Auditor's Office

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - The Franklin County Auditor and the elections department staff are celebrating the completion of a remodeling project.

Auditor Matt Beaton says the "improved Accessibility Project" aimed to make access and customer service better for any disabled people visiting the Auditor's office. Beaton says the initial layout wasn't compliant with national ADA standards for accessibility, and the reception area wasn't ideal for people in wheelchairs.

To fund construction, the Secretary of State's office awarded the Elections Department a $1,000 grant.

Beaton says thanks to the grant, the auditors office now has lower countertops and a wheelchair accessible table, bringing the building into compliance with ADA standards, just in time for the Pasco School District, Proposition 1 special election.
