SPOKANE, Wash., - The Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery is once again partnering with Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc. (Red Robin)  to host the 13th annual "Burgers With A Heart" fundraiser and celebrate the full transformation of Red Robin's four Spokane-area restaurants including Coeur d'Alene.

The week-long event will kick-off Monday, Feb. 4 to raise funds for the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, a safe haven for Spokane-area children who are at risk of abuse and neglect.

From Feb. 4-10, the newly redesigned Red Robin restaurants will donate 50 cents from every gourmet burger sold to the Crisis Nursery. Local celebrities along with local high school students will assist Red Robin in raising additional funds for the Crisis Nursery by selling paper hearts for $1 to Red Robin guests during the fundraiser.

"Partnering with the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery to host the 13th annual ‘Burgers With A Heart' is a great way for our guests to raise money for a good cause and also experience all of the exciting changes that the Spokane-area Red Robin restaurants have made over the past few months," said Tim Mei, regional operations director at Red Robin. "We think guests of all-ages will love our new look, and we're excited to invite the community into the transformed restaurants to see all of the changes first-hand and help us to raise money for the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery."

Last year alone, Red Robin raised nearly $12,000 to support at-risk children in the Inland Northwest. Red Robin serves more than two dozen high-quality gourmet burgers in a variety of recipes along with appetizers, entrees, salads and signature beverages.

Red Robin has three restaurants in Spokane and one in Coeur d'Alene including:

  • 725 West Main Ave. (across from River Park Square in Downtown Spokane)
  • 9904 N. Newport Hwy. (in the Northpointe Shopping Center across from Best Buy)
  • 14736 East Indiana Ave. (on the north side of the mall across from Macy's)
  • 1501 W. Riverstone Dr., Coeur d'Alene (located in the River Stone Plaza)

"We invite the community to join us at Red Robin for ‘Burgers With A Heart' to support the Crisis Nursery and the children in our community," said Amy Knapton, executive director for the Crisis Nursery.  "We are extremely thankful for the past support we've received from our neighbors and from Red Robin, and are proud to report the fundraiser has raised more than $195,000 in the last twelve years to provide safety and comfort to more than 585 at-risk children in our community."

During the fundraiser, local television celebrities will make appearances at the Spokane-area's redesigned Red Robin restaurants to sell specially-designed Red Robin hearts for $1, which will directly support the Crisis Nursery. In addition, Spokane-area high school students will participate in "Spirit with a Heart," special school spirit nights at one of the three Spokane-area restaurants. On these nights, students will sell the $1 Red Robin hearts to guests to raise additional funds for the Crisis Nursery.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It took a jury only a little more than two hours on Wednesday to find Daniel Arteaga guilty for the murder of Kim Schmidt. The prosecution said Arteaga was very jealous that his relationship was ending with Schmidt and she was moving on. They say that's part of the reason why he decided to kill her at the beginning of 2012. The defense disagreed saying that Arteaga was not there when she died and they think she may have even died of suicideMore >>
