Washington Women to Men Salary Ratio Ranks Among Nation's Lowest

WASHINGTON - The Bureau of Labor and Statistics says the earnings ratio in Washington state for women compared to men, is among the lowest in the country.

In the bureau's latest report, researches said Washington women had average weekly earnings of $743 in 2011, which is 74.5% of the $997 average weekly earning for men.

The report shows Washington's ratio ranks 48th in country.

Nationally, the weekly average for women is $684, which is 82.2% the $832 weekly national average for men.

For the average weekly salaries for men and women independently, women in Washington rank12th in the country, men rank 5th.
