Benton Co. Sheriff's Office Telling Former Inmates to Pay Up

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The Benton County Sheriff's Office is telling former jail inmates it's time to pay up.

The sheriff's office sent nearly 1,800 bills out to collect money for costs the inmates racked up in jail.

The charges are for things like medical visits and property damage.

The sheriff's office is looking to collect more than $1 million in debts and is considering using a collection agency to help with the process.
