Americans stay confident after weekend losses

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Over the weekend the Tri-City Americans took on two potential playoff opponents and lost to both Victoria and Spokane. The Ams fell from fourth place and home ice in the first round to sixth place. The Ams are not satisfied with the outcome, looking to bounce back Tuesday against Vancouver, but the Ams were positive about their recent hustle on the ice.

"I think you just want to make sure your confidence is up still, despite losing two games and clean up a couple of the areas. One was frankly we took too many penalties, which is not something we typically do. If there's a negative toward the weekend, that's what it was," head coach Jim Hiller said.

"We didn't play terrible. I think we skated well. We just got to keep working, keep skating. Don't get down on each other. We got to stick together as a team and show everybody we can play with anybody in the league, get back to those ways. Keep doing what we do well," defenseman Justin Hamonic added.
