As I drove into work this morning my mind flipped back and forth between two main themes: what I should include in today's Morning Drive post and how bright the sunshine is.

So…. how about both of them?

First, the sunshine. It feels great to be alive when the skies aren't gray. Seeing the bright light in the sky is a signal that golf season is nearing. Now if only the temperature on the car thermometer would rise about freezing!

In any case, KHQ's Matt Rogers took his Action Cam to downtown Spokane for the annual Golf Show. The show is chock full of vendors, including Ping who is new to the show this year. Local PGA pros will be holding seminar-type classes all weekend – free with admission. There is also an equipment demo area for you to try out the new products. See you there!

On to Gonzaga. I turned on the game last night expecting to see Saint Mary's putting up a good fight. Instead, I saw once again how dominant Kelly Olynyk can be. Olynyk scored 17 in the Zags' 77-60 win over the Gaels in Moraga. Gary Bell, Jr. got the good guys off to a fast start in the second half, ending the game with 20 points. The win means Gonzaga's lead in the WCC is pretty darn secure. A pretty darn impressive team, if you ask me.

In high school hoops, congratulations to both Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls in the girls 5A state tournament in Nampa. Coeur d'Alene beat Rocky Mountain 55-36 and will face Capital Friday in the semifinals. Post Falls beat Post Falls beat Mountain View 50-28 and will have my alma mater, Highland.

And in national sports, how ‘bout them Lakers? Yes, they lost in grand fashion last night. The Clippers won thanks to Chris Paul's 24 points and 13 assists. Blake Griffin had 22 and Chauney Billups hit five 3-pointers for 21 points.

Will anyone be watching the All-Star events this weekend?

Oh, and one more thing! Happy Birthday to Michael Jordan! The basketball legend turns 50 on Sunday. 50 years old (remember that Saturday Night Live sketch?)! The more time flies, the more I appreciate how great of a player he was. And yes, as as Jazz fan, I still say he pushed off. Nevertheless, ESPN OTL has a great article on Jordan here.

Enjoy sport, my friends!

Reviewing OOTP '15, Mariners Still Break Hearts in Baseball Video Game

This lengthy build-up leads me to one sincere question: Did the 2001 season doom the Seattle Mariners franchise? If the M's had won the World Series that year, would we be talking about a dynasty? Out of the Park Baseball 15 allows baseball fans to answer that question.
