Inslee Says Climate Change Threatens Wine, Ski, and Oyster Industries
OLYMPIA, Wash. -Governor Jay Inslee says Washington State should lead the fight against climate change.
Testifying Wednesday before a state Senate committee, Inslee urged lawmakers to hire an outside group to advise him on how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while increasing the amount of state created energy.
The group would also evaluate how other states and countries are addressing climate change.
Inslee says climate change threatens assorted industries in the state, including downhill skiing and wine making, which rely on a steady snowfall, and oyster cultivation, which is threatened by ocean acidification.
