Police Arrest Teen for Stolen Handgun and License Plates

HERMISTON, Or. - A man from Hermiston is behind bars after police say he stole firearms and license plates.

On Monday afternoon, February 25th, Hermiston Police pulled over 19-year-old Benjamin Marquez who officers say was driving with the stolen Oregon License plate 293CUS.

Police say they knew Marquez from a previous contact, and knew he had a suspended license and a warrant out for his arrest for not showing up in court.

Police arrested Marquez and searched the car, where officers say they found a stolen .45 caliber Glock handgun that had been reported stolen in 1995 out of Boardman.

Police booked Marquez into the Umatilla County Jail on charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm, theft in the first degree by receiving (firearm), theft in the second degree (license plates), driving while suspended - misdemeanor, and the warrant out of Hermiston Municipal Court.
