SUNNYSIDE, Wash. - A 21-year-old man from Sunnyside is recovering after police say he accidentally shot himself in the hand.
Sunnyside Police say they went to Sunnyside Community Hospital around 8 AM on Tuesday when doctors reported they were treating a gunshot victim.
Officers immediately put nearby schools on lockdown while officers went to the hospital and the area of Decatur Ave, where the gun went off.
Police say the man drove himself to the hospital for treatment after he had been disassembling his gun to clean it and accidentally shot himself in the hand.
Officers say the man was legally in possession of the gun, and isn't facing any charges.
