Kennewick Middle School Celebrates Dr. Seuss

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Members of Highlands Middle School's National Junior Honor Society spent a day reading in honor of Dr. Seuss Day. Nine students participated in the annual event, stopping at Westgate Elementary and St. Joseph's Elementary School.

Students wore the famous red and white-striped hats while reading Dr. Seuss books and sharing stories. Sierra Montoya, an 8th grader at Highlands, said she wanted to be a part of the experience to inspire younger students.

"We just wanted to show kids that reading is good and I want to do this to make a difference in their lives," she continued.

Highlands NJHS students have participated in Dr. Seuss Day for the past 16 years.
