UNION GAP, Wash.--After leaving the Majestic Theatre in Union Gap Thursday night, authorities said 45-year-old Cynthia Kelly-Munzanreder was shot multiple times.
Union Gap Police initially told NBC Right Now the victim died from her injuries. Now, police said she's on life support at a local hospital, but they're still calling it a homicide investigation.
People we spoke with said they're not surprised to hear about the violent act, but they were shocked about the location.
"It brings it home more when it's some place like a theater," said Flicka Arquette. "This isn't the ghetto. This is business Yakima, and it's scary. It seems like there's more and more coming, and I don't know what they're going to do about it."
"This is a little bit more concerning, hearing about this," said Cheyenne Crose. "We kind of hear the stories but not as close as we are right now to it."
Police said they're looking for several "people of interest" in the case, but they haven't narrowed it down to one individual. Officers said they're still working to piece together a motive.
Some people walking near the crime scene said while this is a tragedy, it won't keep them from going to the movies or enjoying a night out on the town.
"I don't think that kind of stuff is going to stop me from going places because for one thing if you stop going where the shootings are at you'd end up going nowhere, and you can't do that," said Arquette. "So I think I'm just more careful. I try to be more aware."
Police said it's still early in the investigation. No one else was injured during the shooting, and police believe it's an isolated incident.
NBC Right Now will continue to keep you updated as the case unfolds.
