RICHLAND, Wash. -- This baseball season fans will miss a familiar face in the Richland dugout. Longtime head coach Ben Jacobs retired after last year's team finished third at the 4A state tournament. The new head coach is Grant Richardson. The former Richland student-athlete is also a familiar face. Richardson says he looks forward to the challenge of replacing a local legend.
"You know, it's some big shoes to fill. I'm excited and up to the challenge. I think that kids are up to the challenge to match what they have done in the last 10-15 years. Ben built a great program and I'm excited to take it over. It's the job I've wanted since I quit playing baseball in 2008. Graduated here in 2001. I'm excited to have this opportunity and be on board," Richardson said.
