OLYMPIA, Wash. - Fruit growers in Yakima County are one step closer to eradicating the apple maggot.
The state House passed a bill Thursday that would allow the state Department of Agriculture to transfer $150,000 provided by fruit growers from an inspection account to the Yakima District's
pest control board.
The funding would help the local pest control board seek out and get rid of the apple maggot.
The bill now moves to the state Senate for consideration.
