Pendleton Providing Land for Apartment Developer

Posted: Updated:

PENDLETON, Ore. - The City of Pendleton gave a Portland developer roughly 12 acres of land to build what is expected to become an 80-unit development.

Walker Ventures LLC plans to build off Highway 37 on the site of a rifle range used by city police.

The City Council on Tuesday also agreed to spend $49,000 for architectural planning and engineering. Walker Ventures will repay the money if it follows through on its plan. It it does not, the city will use the information to get another builder.

Walker Ventures plans to charge $800-$1,200 a month for the apartments.

The City says they hope to solve an apartment shortage.
