BURBANK, Wash. - There was plenty of excitement at the live fire training facilities at the Walla Walla County District #5 Fire Station in Burbank Thursday.
Crews from Pasco were conducting flashover training fighting flames in the ceiling above them. At least ten fire districts from around the region use the facility.
"A lot of fire departments, the only time they really get to practice their techniques is during real life even. Coming to a training facility like this we can constantly practice the skills, keeps you a lot safer when the real thing happens, and more efficient," said Walla Walla Fire Dist. 5 Chief Mike Wickstrom.
The training facilities in Burbank include a burn building with propane tanks controlled by a computer, tunnels, a railroad car, and an old school bus.
