OLYMPIA, Wash. - The state House has passed a proposal to allow students under age 21 to taste wine in college classes. Currently, students who are enrolled in a viticulture or enology degree program can't taste wine as part of their course work. The measure passed Friday creates a special permit for colleges, universities, community colleges and vocational schools to allow students under 21 enrolled to taste, but not consume wine.
The measure now heads to the Senate. Earlier this week, the Senate passed a similar measure that would permit alcohol tasting for students enrolled in culinary, beer technology or similar programs.
