Greg Jones Sworn In Newest Member of Kennewick City Council

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The newest member of the Kennewick City Council is sworn in.

After two tying votes by the council between Greg Jones and James Hempstad, on the third vote Jones was unanimously voted in.

He's filling Sharon Brown's seat. She moved on to serve in the state senate.

Jones said he's eager to start serving the community in his new position.

"It feels great. I'm really excited to have the city council give me this opportunity to be appointed to replace Sharon Brown and work too."

Council members said it was a difficult decision because all seven people who applied were impressive candidates.

If Jones wants to stay on the council, he'll have to run for the position again, which goes up for a vote in November.
