PASCO, Wash. - Colleges
across Washington State want to be ready when the unthinkable happens.
The Federal Emergency
Management Agency this week is conducting an intensive training course at
Columbia Basin College for emergency coordinators at college campuses
throughout the state.
FEMA instructor J.
McLellan says by the end of the course, the emergency coordinators, as well as their
local police and fire departments will have a better understanding of how to put an emergency plan in
place and improve the safety of the students on campus.
"From flooding, to natural
hazards to man-made hazards, as we've seen, active shooters are a big concern,
student safety is a big concern," McLellan says.
