Wash. Senate Seeks to Safeguard Social Media Passwords

Posted: Updated:

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Washington state senators are looking to safeguard the social media passwords of job applicants and workers.

The Senate approved a bill Wednesday that would prohibit employers from asking employees for the credentials to personal social media accounts after some employers last year asked applicants for social media information.

Democratic Sen. Steven Hobbs says it is an important privacy issue.

The bill now goes to the state House.
