St. Patrick's Day DUI Patrols This Weekend

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- St. Patrick's Day is Sunday, but many people will be going out Saturday night to celebrate and police want you to be careful on the road.

Last year over St. Patrick's Day weekend, officers in Benton and Franklin Counties arrested 55 people for DUIs.

Local law enforcement agencies are conducting more patrols to make sure drunk drivers stay off the road.

"Drinking and driving is a very serious issue and lots of people get hurt. People get arrested every year for it. So we take it very seriously. We a have zero tolerance policy on DUIs," said Cpl. Todd Dronen, Kennewick Police Department.

Officers urge people to call 911 if they see someone driving drunk. They also suggest taking away someone's keys if they seem too tipsy to drive.
