Following Investigation, OSP to Cite Driver in Fatal February Crash

Posted: Updated:

PENDLETON, Or. - Oregon State Police have decided to cite a driver involved in a fatal car crash northeast of Pendleton back in February.

Troopers say they don't plan to file criminal charges against 31-year-old Steven Elumbaugh from Pendleton. Instead, police will issue him a citation for failure to obey a stop sign. The decision comes after an investigation by OSP troopers from the Pendleton Area Command office and the Umatilla County District Attorney's Office.

OSP says around 3:15 PM on February 27th, Elumbaugh was driving his pickup truck on Campbell Road, when he pulled into the path of 44-year-old Mary Ann Wood from Pendleton. Troopers say the Wood's car crashed into the passenger side of the pickup, and both cars came to rest on the west side of the street. Wood died at the scene.
