PEORIA, Ariz. – First baseman Kendrys Morales homered for the third consecutive game to help lift the Seattle Mariners to their sixth straight win with a 6-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants before a nearly sold-out crowd of 11,188 Tuesday night at Peoria Stadium.

With their sixth consecutive Cactus League win, the Mariners improved to 17-7 to tie the Kansas City Royals (17-6-1) for the most spring training wins.

Starting pitcher Brandon Maurer continued his solid spring allowing one run over 5.0 innings, limiting the Giants to three hits while striking out four. Tom Wilhelmsen (1-1) earned the win despite allowing two runs, and Kameron Loe recorded his first save with a scoreless ninth inning.

The Mariners jumped out to the early lead with a run off Giants starter Barry Zito in the second inning. After Zito struck out five consecutive batters, Brad Miller reached after being hit by a pitch, stole second base, and scored on a two-out single to left field by Nick Franklin.

Trailing 3-2, the Mariners took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. Miller and Franklin both plated runs with sacrifice flies. Morales hit his fifth home run of the spring, and third in as many games, hitting an opposite-field solo home run off Shane Loux in the seventh inning. Morales is now batting .366 (15x41) with 11 runs, 5 home runs and 10 RBI in 13 Cactus League games.

Franklin went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI, while Kyle Seager (2x4, R) and Michael Saunders (2x5, 3B, RBI) also recorded multi-hit games.

The Mariners (17-7) have an off day tomorrow and will return to Cactus League play Thursday night against the Chicago Cubs at 7:05 p.m. at Peoria Stadium. The game will again be televised on ROOT Sports and broadcast on 710 ESPN Seattle and the Mariners Radio Network. Veteran right-hander Jon Garland (1-0, 1.50) is scheduled to make his fourth spring start against Cubs right-hander Jeff Samardzija (2-0, 3.68).
