Washington Forests Generate $296M for Schools

OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Department of Natural Resources says timber harvests and other sales on state trust lands generated $296 million in 2012 for state universities, public school construction, and county services.

The DNR released the annual report Wednesday.

The department manages 8,750 square miles of state and aquatic lands. Over half of that property is held in trust to support schools, universities, and prisons.
