Boeing 787 Makes Test Flight to Check Battery

Posted: Updated:

SEATTLE, Wash. - Boeing plans to analyze data from a Boeing 787 test flight Monday to see if a redesigned battery system worked properly while in the air.

The test flight is a necessary step on Boeing's plan to convince safety regulators to allow airlines to resume using the Dreamliner planes.

Boeing filed a flight plan shortly before the plane took off from Paine Field near Seattle.

Boeing 787 plans have been grounded since January after a lithium-ion battery on a plane caught fire after landing in Boston and another began smoking during a flight in Japan.
