KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Washington Wine Industry Foundation is offering three sets of scholarships for students interested in viticulture or enology next year.

The Horse Heaven Hills Wine Growers Scholarship gives $1,500 to students in Benton, Yakima or Klickitat counties. The scholarship is dedicated to promoting education in grape growing and wine production.

The Walter J. Clore Scholarships, established in 1997, range from $500 - $2,000 in honor of Dr. Clore's grape research and lifetime achievements in the field of viticulture and enology.

The S.W. (Bill) Preston Scholarship, established by Preston Premium Wines and Preston Vineyard, is a $3,000 scholarship. The Foundation awards this to a student studying in Washington. Bill Preston was a leader in the wine industry and the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wine Grape Growers Association. He was also the first inductee into the Legends of Washington Hall of Fame.

These scholarships are available to all high school seniors or graduates and college students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a college or university viticulture and/or enology program.

All scholarship applications must be postmarked by June 1, 2013. Applications are available online here.

The Washington Wine Industry Foundation awarded over $18,000 in scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year.
