Fast Burning Fire Sets Garage & Two Cars Ablaze in Yakima

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima Firefighters had to move quickly to knock out a fast burning garage fire at Naches Avenue and Adams Street.

The call came in around one o'clock this afternoon.

By the time crews arrived, the garage was in flames and two cars were destroyed.

Firefighters had the flames out quickly.

The fire threw up a black smoke column that could be seen all around Yakima.

"Whenever we have cares involved, there's a lot of rubber and that produces black smoke, and yeah, so we could see the smoke column as soon as we opened the bay doors and so we started calling for our resources as appropriate," said Battalion Chief Mitch Cole.

They say no humans or animals were injured in the flames.

Firefighters don't know the cause yet and are investigating.
