KENNEWICK, Wash. - A drop-in day shelter in Kennewick is moving and they have narrowed it down to three possible locations.
The Therapeutic Innovations and Recovery Day Shelter off Clearwater Ave. has tripled their capacity of people they serve and need more room.
The shelter's manager says they are looking at a location on canal and two farther down on Clearwater Avenue.
He says they hope to be in a new building within two to four months.
"We hope to move as fast as we can. A lot of it has to do with the other properties, making sure that if we need any remodeling done, how fast that can get done. Negotiating with the ownerships of each of those properties," said Therapeutic Innovations Manager, Steve Gaulke.
Gaulke says they have also received a grant from Benton and Franklin counties to provide temporary housing to get people immediately off the streets.
He says they are hoping to build a residential section at the same location as the new day shelter.
