Kamiakin Students Receive World Design Governor's Cup

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A team of students at Kamiakin High School is presented the state's Real World Design Governor's Cup.

The team of seven won the state engineering competition last month and received their trophy today. Their winning design involved an unmanned aircraft system used for a search and rescue mission.

"Obviously, we've been here before but it doesn't make it any less exciting. It's always a great honor to accomplish what we've done and it means a lot to all of us," said team member Cooper Atkinson.

This is the fifth year Kamiakin has won the honor. The team will take their design to Washington D.C. next month to compete at the national event.
