YAKIMA, Wash.--Yakima County's economic development committee met Tuesday to discuss the current local economy and its prospects for the future.
New Vision is a nonprofit organization that aims to increase income and employment opportunities for all Yakima County residents.
The organization brought Arvato Digital Services into the center of downtown Yakima. The German owned company plans to hire 150 people alone this year.
New Vision's team also supported Peninsula Packaging and Amtech Stage in Wapato with their expansions, which led to hiring more local employees.
"We had a great year, last year 2012," said David McFadden, the President of New Vision. "It was inspiring to see our local economy shine and rebound from broader economic challenges. I don't think we're out of the woods yet."
McFadden wants the organization to get more involved with expanding Washington's Stem Program.
He said the key to Yakima's future economic success is to inspire young people to get a better education and to one day become the area's new economic leaders.
