UPDATE: Major Crimes And Forensic Teams Have Found A Body

Spokane County Sheriff's Office Statement on the Whitman County Homicide Investigation:

On Wednesday, March 27, 2013, Spokane County Forensics and Major Crimes Detectives assisted Whitman County investigators with a homicide investigation. Whitman County investigators developed information that a victim from a homicide was possibly buried on state land near 28709 N. Schwartgen Road. 

Investigators located a body buried approximately four to five feet underground in a heavily wooded area at about 2:00 p.m. The body will be released to the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office who will identify the victim at a later time.

UPDATE From Kelsey Watts: 2:38 PM - 27 March - Spokane County Sheriff's detective confirm they have found a body buried in rural north Spokane County. 

The body was discovered 4-5 feet deep. 

No confirmation on gender or ID - the Medical Examiner will do that. 

The Whitman County sheriff confirms this search is related to the case of the missing 17-year-old Donavin Stapert who was presumed dead in Malden, WA. 

The tip of the location of the body came "from information developed during the course of the investigation," per Sheriff Brett Myers. 

Three people are in custody, but Sheriff won't say if one of them gave the tip. 

Sheriff Myers says he is 99.9% sure the court documents/probable cause statements are sealed at this time at the Whitman County Courthouse.
