NBCRightNow.com - The Oregon Department of Justice and Oregon State Police are warning citizens about a police impersonation scam.
The Department says scammers call people claiming to be an officer conducting an investigation of counterfeit money. They ask the person to withdraw cash so they can "inspect" it. The fake officer then leaves with the money.
In the last few months, police say these scammers have conned two people out of more than $50,000. Officers say they will never need your money to investigate a counterfeit crime ring.
