KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Tri-Cities Laboratory is now a member of the 'million mile club.' One week ago the company reached the one million mark for accident free miles on the road.
Wednesday, they celebrated. General Manager Greg Clark put that into perspective. He said it's the equivalent of driving all the way around the world 42 times. For the average person that would be about 71 years of accident free driving.
"My route is kind of short but some people go from here to Spokane every night. Some go to Mattawa, Walla Walla. We're kind of all over the eastern part of Washington and everybody does their job the way they're supposed to," said courier Robert Smitha.
"70% of all medical decisions are based partly on a laboratory test. So, since every piece of the chain is important.. What our couriers do for us is extremely important," Clark said.
There are 14 couriers on the TCL staff and they currently average just under 9,000 miles a week. Clark said their goal now is another million miles accident free.
