18-Year-Old Arrests After Allegedly Burglarizing The Same Home Twice

Posted: Updated:
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Coeur d'Alene police officers are investigating two burglaries that happened days apart at the same residence. The home is in the 13 hundred block of North Fifth Street in Coeur D'Alene.

Police arrested the grandson of the homeowner's ex wife sometime earlier this week. They believe he is responsible for the crimes. But Kootenai County prosecutors felt there wasn't enough evidence, so they let him go just three days after his arrest.

The homeowner, Gerry Nutter showed KHQ Local News the window that was damaged when the intruder went into the home. Nutter realized the home had been burglarized when he came home to find his plasma TV missing. Using it's serial number, police were able to locate it at a pawn shop in Post Falls. Police dusted much of the home looking for fingerprints.

On Thursday afternoon, police once again arrested 18 year old Tyler Fox on charges related to the incident on Fifth Street and possibly other burglaries as well. Nutter speculates Fox is stealing to buy drugs, possibly meth. Regardless of how police will handle the case, Nutter plans to move away and move on.

"I'm just afraid to leave my house. You know, me and a friend, we took my rig and parked it around the corner and we went in the house and we both sat there with his gun and we waited for him to show up. We wanted some justice, but you know, it's better to let the cops deal with it. All I want to do is get my stuff, load it into a Uhaul, and I want to get out of here and I don't ever want to look back," he told KHQ.

Nutter has no specific plans on where he will go, but even with Fox behind bars, he has no intention of staying.
