NEAR PENDLETON, Ore. -- A minor injury traffic crash along Interstate 84 near Pendleton has Oregon State Police reminding drivers that distracting driving can be dangerous.

OSP says a commercial truck, driven by 46-year-old Alberto Gamez, was traveling westbound on I-84 this morning at about 5mph, trying to get to a local tire repair facility because of two flat trailer tires.

A second commercial truck approaching the first truck was also traveling westbound when the driver, 38-year-old Wade Wood, failed to notice the slow truck because he was looking at his cell phone and crashed into the back of the trailer.

Gamez and his wife were taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton. Both were treated and released. His daughter was also in the truck, but was not injured.

Wood was also taken to St. Anthony Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Gamez was cited by OSP for operating an unsafe vehicle. Wood was cited for following too close.
