Moses Lake Trooper Is WSP's Trooper Of The Year

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - The Washington State Patrol says Trooper Tim Kron of Moses Lake is the patrol's 2012 state trooper of the year.

Kron was commissioned in 2004. He's a car seat technician who checks to make sure child seats are up to date and properly installed. Kron also is a field training officer who trains new troopers.

Superintendent Steve Thompson announced at a news conference Thursday that Willoughby South High School will drop its "Rebel" mascot, a man dressed in a gray Confederate military outfit, but keep the name.
