Good Shepherd Medical Center Expanding

HERMISTON, Ore. - Good shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston is expanding its surgical space. Officials at the hospital broke ground on Tuesday for the $12.3 million project.

The new space will include 2 surgical suites, 14 additional day beds, a central supply storage facility and staff locker rooms.

"This is one of the biggest construction projects we've ever undertaken but because of the population growth in our area, we're responding to the increase in business," said DAvid Hughes, the hospital's vice president.

The project is expected to take 15-18 months to complete.
