Red Cross Asking For Help to Assist Families in Need

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - Five families affected by a fire in Pasco Monday are staying in a hotel thanks to the American Red Cross, but the organization is asking for your help.

19 people lost their homes after a fire ripped through their apartment complex on West Henry Street. The Red Cross has committed nearly $6,000 to help. They also have provided emergency supplies, food and clothing.

But the organization says they need your help in order to keep assisting other families in need.

"We then are ready, not only when with these families, but we also are not left depleted so that we can help the next fire which could be today. It could be tomorrow or next week, but we're always there ready to help," said Red Cross Director, Jeanne Jelke.

The Red Cross says more than 90 percent of disasters they respond to are fire-related.
