KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Benton-Franklin Health District is helping people invest in their health for National Public Health Week.
The latest county health rankings show that 13 percent of Benton County residents and 23 percent of Franklin County residents rate their health as fair to poor. The health district says they want to help change that.
Every day this week, the district will share daily advice and programs on their website in an effort to save lives and money.
"Sometimes people aren't always aware of the benefits. In fact, only three percent of the health care spending in the U.S. is in public health. But it's those prevention programs that are going to be the ones that are going to give you the most benefit," said Dr. Amy Person with the Benton-Franklin Health District.
