PASCO, Wash. - Mayors for around the region broke bread Wednesday for
the "Mayors for Meals Breakfast." The local Meals on Wheels chapter
hosted the event to discuss some of the issues facing the program.
NBC Right Now previously reported, Meals on Wheels has outgrown it's
current facility at the Pasco Senior Citizen kitchen. The organization's
board of directors purchased 2 acres of land in Richland, but the
city's mayor says moving forward will be "challenging."
"We need to find a way to make this happen in the future--not clear what that way is going to be," said Mayor John Fox.
The meals on Wheels program has been serving meals in Benton and Franklin counties since 1974. Last year, they served 147,000.
