KENNEWICK, Wash. - Gesa Credit Union is offering furlough relief services to their members affected by sequestration.
Gesa is offering a furlough personal line of credit, free skip-a-pay, and penalty-free early withdrawal on CDs. They are also offering one-on-one credit counseling.
The financial impact caused by budget cuts at Hanford inspired Gesa to offer the services. The bank's CEO says they recognize these are difficult times and they want to help.
"We're concerned about them. You know, what impacts them impacts our local economy and when people don't have money, they stop spending. So we thought if they are having trouble making their home payment or buying groceries for their families, that's just the sort of thing we want to be here to help them with," said CEO Christina Lethlean.
Gesa's furlough relief services only apply to members who are affected by the Hanford furloughs.
