10-Year-Old Boy Killed After Pulling Out In Front Of Pickup On His Bike

Posted: Updated:

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - A Pierce County sheriff's spokesman says a 10-year-old boy on a bike was killed Thursday night when he rode into the path of a pickup truck.

Spokesman Ed Troyer said the boy pulled in front of the oncoming vehicle as he left a friend's driveway to ride seven blocks to his home.

The News Tribune says Troyer reports that the 64-year-old Spanaway man driving the truck slammed on his brakes but couldn't avoid the boy.

The spokesman says the driver was not impaired and the death appears to be "a tragic accident."

The boy's name was not immediately released.

The defense disagreed saying that Arteaga was not there when she died and they think she may have even died of suicideMore >>
