SHORELINE, Wash. - The
Washington State Patrol says troopers shot a driver after he rammed a patrol
car during a chase.
Troopers say they had
tried to stop the man before midnight Thursday for a lane violation. After a chase, A WSP spokesman says the
driver hit a patrol car and tried to run off.
The spokesman says one officer shot the man
in the leg. The man was able to run a short distance before officers caught up
and arrested him. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The troopers were not hurt. The specific reason for their shooting is under
investigation. WSP is also investigating whether the driver was under the
influence of drugs or alcohol.
