Posted: Updated:

NBCRightNow.com - The United States Congress is working to ensure the Hanford B Reactor remains preserved and accessible to the public.

The House Subcommittee on Public Lands and Environmental Regulation will hold a legislative hearing Friday, April 12 on Doc Hastings' bill to establish the Manhattan Project National Historic Park.

The bill has bipartisan support in both the House and Senate.

The Manhattan Project was a top-secret program to produce an atomic bomb. The park will also include facilities in Tennessee and New Mexico.
