YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima's air traffic control tower won't be closing next week after all. Friday, the Federal Aviation Administration announced its plans to delay the closure of all 149 towers that were scheduled to be shut down because of sequestration. The FAA says the delay comes after multiple legal challenges to the closure decision. They now plan to stop funding the towers on June 15th. Yakima's air traffic control operations will then be handled out of SEA-TAC.
