PASCO, Wash. - A freshman at Columbia Basic College is headed to Washington, D.C. after being awarded the North American Young Generation in Nuclear Scholarship.
Racheal Calaway will represent the college at the 2013 Professional Development Workshop. The conference focuses on the future of nuclear technology.
Calaway is one of four students, in all of North America, selected for the award. She is also the only community college recipient.
"I'm so excited to represent CBC and the [Nuclear Technology program]. It's just an outstanding program and I can't wait to spread the word...it's going to be great," said Calaway.
Calaway is studying to be a nuclear technician. She leaves for D.C. in May.
