Spokane Police Arrest Arson Suspect During Undercover Investigation

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: On Saturday, 4/6/13 at approximately 1:30 Spokane Police officers responded to reports of multiple fires being set in trash cans at Coeur d'Alene Park in Spokane (near the corner of 2nd and Chestnut).

Spokane Police set up an undercover investigation of the area and at around 3:30 p.m. a man approached one of the trash cans in the park, dug around in the trash can and lit the contents on fire.

He then proceeded to walk southbound way from the trash can. The undercover officer notified other officers in the area and patrol quickly responded to the scene and arrested 47-year-old Philip B. Lewis on three charges of 2nd Degree Arson.

Ron was also a Spokane firefighter and was the oldest recruit at the time. He was 45 years old and only retired five years ago after serving 14 years fighting fires. Many who knew Ron, knew he had a creative side. He loved building rat rods and sculpting anything out of metal. He sculpted this dragon which actually can breathe fire...
